Wat’s Dyke Way is marked as a Regional Route  on OS Explorer Maps 256, 265 and 266

The Bridge  at Wilderness Wood Llay SJ 333 538 has been closed for repair.

Path problems:

The current extremely  wet winter has made some sections of the Way  very muddy and difficult to walk.

  • The area around The Fields at Maesbury, P35  in the Guide Book. This can be avoided by continuing along the lane to the Memorial Hall. Here turn left and then fork right at the junction. Continue straight ahead at the Cross Roads to rejoin Wat’s Dyke Way
  • The area around Gwysaney between Sychdyn and Rhosesmor P 88. This can be avoided by leaving the route at the lane following the section of the Dyke. Go directly ahead at the lane to the junction. Fork left. Continue ahead at the next junction and again at the following one (at Ty Eurgain). At the next gate turn right to rejoin Wat’s Dyke Way.
  • Llwybr y Bi Woods south of Holywell  P96. When the lane bends sharp left after Cefn Smallholdings take the track going right instead of going straight  ahead. Continue to go past a farm to the lane. Turn left along the lane and follow to the A5026

  • The section crossing the A483 road and past Weston Farm (pages 36 & 37 in the guidebook) needs to be read and interpreted carefully.
  • There has been a diversion at Yewtree  cottage on (page 45) The path is now to its right, not left.
  • Sodyllt Old Hall (pages 51 & 52 in the guidebook). Shell Brook A new bridge has been erected at SJ 350 411. This is accessible by turning left at Sodyllt Hall SJ 344 405 and walking down lane to Dee Side SJ 346 413. It should be noted that the section between SJ 348 414 and SJ 350 411 (the footbridge) is currently extremely muddy. The route after Shell Brooke is a magnificent riverside walk.
  • On Page 85 The last sentence in Section 3 should read "Cross the road and turn left along the verge past Station Road and Padeswood Golf Course on left.
